Pag in Hindi means 'feet'.  As per Hindu mythology, these feet are said to be that of Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth.  Therefore, Indians place these Pagle on their doorstep, in the hope that Goddess Lakshmi (Wealth) will pay them a visit.  So go ahead and buy these - you might just be the lucky one!!  

These are especially used during the Festival of Lights - Diwali. 

This article has a wooden base.  It is first given a primer coating and then colored. Thereafter, intricate handwork is done using a cone that contains ceramic color. Glazed stones are then stuck on the Pagle which is then left for drying. Once the Pagle dry up, a warnish coating is done which makes the article long lasting and also lends strength to the color.
